From the recording SOMEWHERE DEEP IN CHINA

This song was written by a friend and I as we enjoyed a visit with her son late one evening . We pretty much just played and sang it as is the first time we performed it together, writing it as we went. It so reminded me of an oriental painting of the bamboo hills in China and the pandas there that was a favorite of mine when i was a child. I disappeared into the scene often before falling asleep.  My granddaughters really love this song. It's their favorite lullaby.

Lyrics

Somewhere Deep in China; in the land of my dreams
Live the magic bears by the life-giving stream.
On a gentle bamboo hillside where the Chinese breezes blow
Grow the flowers of the wildweed, and the Panda cubs are born.
They play in the wildness. They grow in the light.
children dancing on the hill; they frolic out of sight.
Somewhere deep in China, in the land of my dreams
Live the magic bears by the life-giving stream.
I've lived there since childhood; this place I go to in my dreams-
Take me back to China-the bamboo hills of China.
Take me back to China where the Chinese breezes blow........
( Instrumental break )
Somewhere deep in china in the land of my dreams
Live the magic bears by the lifesaving stream.
