REDBIRD IN A CEDAR TREE

(Deb E. Dee)
Words and music by Deb E. Dee

This song was written about the cardinal, down by Barton Creek in Austin, and about my adventures with an ex-partner with brilliant red hair who drank malt liquor caller 'The Bull'(shudder). Like the cardinal, few knew him for his love of(and extensive knowledge of) great music, just his bright colors.

Redbird in a Cedar Tree copyright 1988 by Deb E. Dee Oh, the lookout night Is a very strange thing. Blue water of my dreams. There's a redbird deep In the cedar tree Where bright colors Cannot hide his Song from me. Look around, No one is there; Just a country song On the sweet night air. Rock me gently On the breeze- Redbird sing Sweet love to me. Water drip From then white rock ledge While the pond Begins to beg. Liquid light Flow through my head For I am not really dead. Come around Sweet Thursday morn Grab the bull Right by the horn. Jump like hailstones In a storm- You can't say We were not warned. Oh the liquid night Is a very strange thing; Blue water of my dreams. There's a redbird deep In the cedar tree (Where bright colors Cannot hide His song from me)x2
